SHAN STATE – The junta air force bombed Hsenwi Town in northern Shan State and a Kachin Baptist church was destroyed, reported Lashio restoration team.
Around 10 p.m. on October 27, junta air force dropped seven highly destructive bombs on Ward 3 of Hsenwi, near Hsenwi Hotel and the Kachin Baptist church.
It is said that bombs landed directly on the roof of the church, destroying the entire church. The video records also showed the buildings in the church premises that were hit by shrapnel and damaged.
The buildings at the back of the church were also damaged and the person recording the video said that the destruction was severe enough that the whole area needs to be brought down to rebuild the church.
The bomb that landed near Hsenwi Hotel, on the other hand, caused damages to four houses but there were no civilian casualties.
A person working for the Lashio restoration team said that although there were people inside the buildings during the bombing, they were luckily not harmed.
Junta airstrikes on October 14 similarly destroyed a Kachin Baptist church at Einine Village in Lashio Township.
Ta’ang civilian organisations have announced that the junta forces have destroyed nearly 2,000 buildings including houses, schools, hospitals and clinics, religious buildings and markets during one year of Operation 1027.
Within over three years since the military coup, the junta council has destroyed over 100 religious buildings, most of them being churches, just in Chin State.
