KARENNI STATE- The Karenni Interim Administrative Council (KIAC) announced that the villages and IDP camps are facing floods and landslides due to the aftermath of Typhoon Yagi and need assistance.
The Humanitarian and Rehabilitation Department of KIAC announced that 16 IDP camps and 54 villages in Karenni State have faced flood hazards due to Typhoon Yagi.
Sixteen IDP camps in Pekon, Loikaw, Nan Mae Gon, Di Bao Khu, (East) Demoso, Hoya, Bawlakhe Townships, Mawchi region, Somo/Faysoelay (Sharr Taw) Town, Mae Se Township, and nearby 54 villages are facing disasters.
Since the beginning of September, due to Typhoon Yagi, floods and landslides have killed many people, damaged roads and bridges, and damaged houses. Many rice fields and cultivated fields were also damaged by the flood, as mentioned in the statement.
The Interior Department and Humanitarian and Rehabilitation Department of the Karenni Interim Administration Council (KIAC) have reportedly carried out emergency response and rescue operations in cooperation with the township administration and civil organizations.
