RAKHINE STATE – The local civilians reported that the mobile networks were cut in at least four more townships in Rakhine State.
Currently, the mobile phone lines have been cut in Ponnakyun, Kyauktaw, Mrauk-U and Pauktaw Townships for over a week, as said by a Kyauktaw-Myaypone highway express driver.
“The mobile phone network has been cut for over a week. Wen leaving from Kyauktai, only MPT is available when you reach Myaypone township. No network functions in this region,” he explained.
During the second week of October, mobile phone networks were simultaneously cut in at least none townships in Rakhine State, which lasted about a week.
A few days later, mobile networks were cut off in at least four more townships. And combining with the previous townships, there are at least ten townships where the mobile networks have been cut off.
A local civilian in Mrauk-U said that the local civilians are experiencing difficulties due to the mobile network unavailability.
“The loss of mobile phone connection is inconvenient for the civilians as they face difficulties in communication for health, economic and social matters. Moreover, here, many people rely on foreign remittance. Add in how businesses relying on mobile phone networks also cannot function well, so people are all troubled due to the lack of mobile phone connectivity,” said the Mrauk-U resident.
Since the battles between the junta council and AA broke out again, the junta council has cut the mobile phone service and internet service of each township in Rakhine State, and the networks remain cut.
It was reported that mobile phone services are still unavailable in Ponnakyun, Rathaetaung, Butheetaung, Maungdaw, Kyauktaw, Mrauk-U, Minpyar, Pauktaw, Marnaung and Thandwe Townships in Rakhine State and Paletwa Township in Chin State.
