TANINTHARYI DIVISION- In Yephyu Township, on the Yangon-Dawei highway, locals reported that a civilian was killed when the military council fired heavy weapons towards Nyinn Htwe village.
The deceased, Mr. Su Phyu ( around 45 years) was killed by a shrapnel injury from a heavy weapon this afternoon (October 29).
“Four rounds of heavy weapon were fired. They got out of the shop (to look around) when the first shell blasted near them. Then another heavy shell fell near them and the victim received shrapnel injury in his neck, reported a local man.
It is reported that there was a fight from 6 to 10 a.m. in Maung Mae Shaung village, which is more than two miles away from Nyin Htwe village.
Local People’s Defense Forces reported that they launched an offensive on the military council troops near Maung Mae Shaung village, causing a clash between the two sides.
Nyin Htwe village is located between Maung Mae Xiao village where the battle took place, and Kyauk Kanya village, where the Artillery Battalion 304 is based and from where heavy weapons were fired.
Cars were stuck on the road all morning due to the battle in Maung Mae Xiao village but were allowed to pass through in the afternoon, reported the locals.
In the second week of October, the Military Council troops fired heavy weapons at Kweku Village, Myeik Township, killing a 6-year-old girl and her mother needing medical treatment.
