MAGWAY DIVISION – Without having a clash, junta army reportedly conducted an airstrike to Kan Chaung Village of Saw Township, resulted in injuring lacal residents and destroyed some houses.
The MiG-29 fighter jet which came from Tada-U junta’s airbase, bombarded two 250-pound bombs simultaneously into Kan Chaung Village at about midnight on October 30. Mr. Thar Aye (72), Mr. Kyaw Myint (50), Mr. Aung Min Tun (42), and Miss Yun Wadi (11) have been wounded, and 5 houses were damaged.
“There was no clash. They (the fascist army) just shelled bombs like this, Luckily, there was no death. Only minor injuries. Kan Chaung Village administrator announced with the microphone that there could be an airstrike. Some people fled from the village. Only those who didn’t flee were hit,” said a local woman from the Kan Chaung.
She added that there are more than 200 households in Kan Chaung Village, and that was the first time she encountered airstrikes. She guessed that the junta’s airstrikes may have targeted the clinic in the village.
“The houses around the clinic were hit. It seemed that the clinic was targeted. The target was missed and the bombs fell on the road. All the houses near the side of the road were hit. Only the mirrors of the clinic were broken. The clinic is not always open. They only open for important patients for a while and then close again,” said a woman from Kankhang Village.
At present, it is reported that the fleeing residents have returned to live in the village.
Last May 9, the monastery at Akyi Pan Pa Lun Village in Saw Township was also attacked without any clash, and at least 15 local people were killed when the military group launched an airstrike on the monastery, and the monastery was also destroyed by fire.
