MAGWAY DIVISION – The junta council is raiding the villages in southern Pwintphyu Township, resulting in tense confrontations against the local defence forces and the junta forces are shelling the villages, according to reports from locals.
A local resident reported that the junta council reinforced Maezali Police Station and fired heavy weapons at nearby villages starting November 9 morning.
“They have been reinforcing Maezali (Police Station) since 7:30 a.m. this morning (November 9). There are around 100 of them. They are preparing to advance towards the area where defence forces are present,” said a resident of Pwintphyu Township, adding that a resident of Kywelchan Village was injured by junta shelling.
A source close to local defence forces shared that the junta council has been reinforcing Maezali Police Station with troops from Wahtat Station in Pwintphyu since November 9 morning.
Wahtat (Cotton Army) is a junta battalion that works for the junta thread and garment factory in Pwintphyu.
It is said that the residents of several villages are already fleeing due to the suspected upcoming junta raid.
Local defence forces informed that the section of the Monywa-Pathein Road connecting Minbu and Pwintphyu has been temporarily blocked due to the tense military situation.
