BAGO DIVISION – Local residents reported that junta infantry battalion 35 and administration teams colluded and abducted ten young men for conscription in Thonesel, Tharyarwaddy Township and were demanding 60 lakhs Kyats for the release of each youth.
On November 10th night, junta forces and administration teams raided Wahkatdan Ward in Thonesel, pretending to check guest registration then abducted a young man named Maung Zwal. It is said that Wahkatdan Ward Administration Officer San Tun, junta police and soldiers and junta informer A Ngel Lay from Thonesel were involved in the abduction.
On November 3rd night, Maung Shine, the son of Ms. Mi Mar also from Wahkatdan Ward was also similarly abducted by junta forces that came to check guest registration. It is said that a total of ten young men have been abducted so far and they are detained at junta infantry battalion 35, and the junta forces are demanding 60 lakhs Kyats each for the release of those young men.
“They said they will release them for 60 lakhs each. The main perpetrators were junta informer A Ngel Lay from Thonesel, Wahkatdan Administration Officer San Tun and around ten junta forces. They came to check guest registration then abducted the young men,” explained a resident.
Junta forces are also abducting young people in Tharyarwaddy Town and it is said that a large number of young people fled to nearby villages or to Yangon.
