KAREN STATE: It was known that Karen National Union- KNU Brigade (5) and its coalition forces keep attacking Mahtaw military base in southern part of the town after a few days of capturing Kuseik military camp in Hpapon, Karen state.
As the junta’s soldiers who have retreated from Kuseik military base cooperated with the soldiers from Mahtaw military base, there are about (80) soldiers in the base, as said by colonel Saw Kalaedo, a spokesman of KNU Brigade (5).
Colonel Saw Kalaedo said, “Mahtaw military base was known to start being attacked.”
Mahtaw military base is on Hpapon- Kataiti- Kama Maung road and 10 miles far from Hpapon.
There are a Military Tactical Operation and two battalions left near Hpapon and all of them have been blocked and surrounded by KNU and its coalition forces.
On Hpapon- Kataiti- Kama Maung road, there are Mahtaw military base, Taung Thoneline, Kataiti and Kanyindon bases of the junta’s forces and No.(1013) and (1014) battalions of Karen Border Guard Forces under the junta’s command and Kama Maung Tactical Camp still left to be captured by KNU.
