MYANMAR – After the terrorist junta army had penetrated Mobye Town by offensives, on November 17, there were fierce fights, according to local news sources.
Due to the intense fights, the junta army had to seek air support, and there were some casualties on both sides.
“The junta army with around 300 forces carried out offensive attacks from Pekon to Mobye – Nan Mei Khon – Loikaw. The battle has been going on since the morning. Today, the junta launched airstrikes. The fight is quite intense,” said a person familiar with the situation on the ground.
The Local Defense Forces and the Karenni Revolutionary Forces had controlled Mobye Town since last year, but they had not been able to capture the garrison, Light Infantry Battalion – 422.
“Since last month, there has been a 2-month battle between Pekon – Pinlaung. Revolutionary Forces retreated from there due to the situation, and now the fights are back between Pekon – Mobye, as well as on Mobye. The Resistance Fighters are trying their best to block junta’s reinforcements,” said a member of the Karenni Forces.
In order to regain control of their lost camps and towns in Karenni State, the junta army has been re-offensive with massive forces since June 2024, and has been able to settle in the Loikaw City.
After that, the junta army tried to re-control Hsihseng-Loikaw Road, Pinlaung-Pekon-Mobye Road and Loikaw Road, the military-important areas of Karenni State.
Mr. Marwi, Deputy Commander of Karenni Nationalities Defence Force (KNDF) informed recently that the junta army has been increasing its forces in Karenni State.
