KACHIN STATE – The revolutionary forces led by the Kachin Independence Army (KIA) attacked and captured at least four camps of the junta council and its subordinate Shanni Nationalities Army (SNA) located in Selzin Area at the border of Kachin State and Sagaing Division, reported a KIA source.
The junta and SNA camps at Shwetwin intersection, Panchel Hill and Mansein Creek in Selzin were captured around 6 a.m. on November 19 and Saipan Hill base on the opposite bank of Selzin was also captured after that.
“Sainpan Hill base on the opposite side of Selzin, Kachin State has been captured. On the side of Kachin State, the camps at Panchel Hill, Shwetwin intersection and Mansein Creek have been captured. Saipan Hill base was surrounded yesterday (November 18) and captured today. The junta council carried out two airstrikes yesterday around 4 p.m.,” explained the KIA source.
It is also reported that two soldiers from the KPDF (Kachin People’s Defence Force) fell in the battles at Selzin area, the border of Kachin State and Sagaing Division. Junta casualties and confiscated weapons are still being investigated.
“KPDF soldier Aung Chit Htet (aka) Nar Kwin, 27, fell in battle at Saipan Hill on the opposite bank on Selzin on November 15. He sacrificed his life to liberate the country and the people from military dictatorship. A total of two KPDF soldiers fell in battle,” said the KIA source.
It is said that Tarmakhan, Saitaung and Selzin areas in KIA Brigade 9 territory are now free of terrorist junta strongholds.
