SHAN STATE – Residents reported that the junta forces have been stationed at Nwabangyi Village in Ywangan Township for 12 days and have blocked the residents from leaving the village. Moreover, they are also reported to have detained six civilians and are torturing them, raising concerns for the lives of those civilians.
Around 12:35 p.m. on November 14, revolutionary forces attacked the junta checkpoint at the entrance to Ywangan, killing five junta police including a police officer from the narcotics team. The next day on November 15, over 70 junta forces raided Nwabangyi Village with guns ablaze.
The terrorist junta forces were still stationed in the village 12 days later on November 26 and it is said that they abducted and were torturing five men and one woman for no reason, raising concerns for the well being of those six civilians.
In addition, the junta forces also reportedly blocked the people inside the village from leaving the village, keeping them as some form of hostage. Nwabangyi Village has an estimated over 1,000 households.
“The junta dogs (junta forces) stationed at Nwabangyi Village detained six civilians and are beating them up for no reason. The six are being assaulted right at the center of the village where the junta forces are stationed. Their lives are in danger. It’s not known what they were asking them. The people are also not allowed to leave the village. They have been locked in for more than ten days. They can’t even leave to work in the farms. Junta forces arrest and beat up everyone who tries to leave so no one dares to leave,” said a resident.
