MAGWAY DIVISION- Five PDF members who were arrested at the local police station in Yepyar Village, Pauk Township, broke the cell and escaped, said the Information Officer of the People’s Defense Army’s Pakokku District No. 16 Battalion.
Five PDF soldiers, including a female member who had been arrested at Pauk Township’s Yepyar Police Station, reportedly broke out of the prison yesterday (November 25) at around 2:00 a.m.
” They broke through the roof of the cell and started running when the guards from the police station were slacking and sleeping. They had been trying to prison-break for months. They escaped just in the nick of time when guards were slacking,” explained the PDF Information Officer.
Those who escaped were three soldiers from Pakokku District No. 16 Battalion and two, including a female soldier from another local defense force (LPDF). They reportedly got arrested in May and August.
The Yepyar Police Station, located 12 miles east of Pauk Township, has frequently been attacked by the resistance forces.
In February 2022, revolutionary forces attacked the Yepyar Police Station, killing 5 policemen, including the station commander. In June 2023, a police sergeant from the station was reportedly shot by the revolutionary forces.
The military council camps and Pu Saw Hti villages in Pauk, Myaing, and Pakokku towns in Magwe Division, have been surrounded and blocked by the resistance forces lately.
