SAGAING DIVISION – The Kachin Independence Army (KIA) led revolutionary forces are fiercely attacking the last two junta bases in Inndaw and the junta council is also defending by carrying out consecutive air strikes, according to a source from the People’s Defence Force (PDF).
Revolutionary forces have been attacking the last two junta bases in Inndaw, the military hill (Japan Cave Hill) and the Pagoda Hill, since December 11 evening.
The terrorist junta council sent fighter jets to bomb the area since the start of the battle and a large number of houses near those junta bases were also burned down by junta forces.
The two junta bases are located on the same mountain ridge and it is said that the revolutionary forces are having a difficult time attacking the bases due to the strong defenses while the junta council is constantly delivering rations to the bases by helicopter.
“The fighting is still ongoing. It started on the 11th evening. In Inndaw, only the military hill and the pagoda hill camps remain. Because those two bases are connected, the junta dogs (junta forces) are firing back from the higher ground with their advantage in ammunition. The junta dogs also bombed with fighter jets. In the town, due to the junta airstrikes, and the junta dogs using flammable shells and committing arson, most of the houses near the two junta bases are burned down,” said a local military news source.
Revolutionary forces launched an attack on Inndaw since August 16 and captured Inndaw Police Station, General Administration Office, and junta outposts at Nabar Intersection and Nabar Village Monastery by August 24 morning. The junta forces that retreated from the police station and the administration office moved to the Japan Cave in Inndaw and prepared defenses, setting it as a defense line of Infantry Division 77. They also set up strong defenses at the Inndaw Monastery that is on the same ground level as the Japan Cave and just 900m away from there.
After that, fighting paused in Inndaw during September but began again on November 1.
