MAGWAY DIVISION – Mr. Min Datha from Yaw Alintan revolutionary force and an accountable person of Htilin township People Defense Force mentioned that the fascist junta council reinforced its troops using airstrikes as they (the junta council troops) faced many casualties in the battle that occurred near Htilin town, Magway division.
It has been reported that while a junta council column consisting of 70 junta council troops under the lead of the captain Ye Man arrived in the eastern part of the Htilin-Kyin-Pakokku road section, the local revolutionary forces attacked in advance, at around 1 a.m. on November 28. Those junta council troops were stationed in Shwe Htee hall in Htilin downtown.
During that attack, at least five junta council troops including a captain were said to have been killed and the revolutionary forces managed to arrest a junta council troop alive.
After the Mi35 helicopter from Monywa-based Northwest Regional Command headquarters reinforced the defeated junta council column, they (the junta council troops) retreated. It was known that at around 1 p.m. they entered back to Shwe Htee hall.
Mr. Min Datha from Yaw Alintan revolutionary force mentioned that “as we (the revolutionary forces) received the information in advance, we ambushed them (the junta council troops). As the battle place was in the woods, there were no civilians near that place. They were only about one mile away from Htilin town when they were attacked.
The battle which started breaking out in the morning, finished at around 11 a.m. Bo (captain )Nyaung U was included in the junta council troops who were killed. It (Bo Nyaung U) was not his real name; it’s just what we called him. His true identity was not yet known. There were four junta council captains in Htilin hall.”
The special police who were assigned to Htilin township police station and the soldiers who were assigned to the fire brigade hill are included in the junta council servants who were killed in the battle. They (the junta council troops) abandoned the dead bodies in the scene.
An accountable person also made confirmation of the battle.
An accountable person of the Htilin township People Defense Force mentioned that “the junta council used to conduct offensive attacks towards the places around five miles away from the town. Therefore, the revolutionary forces attacked them (the junta council troops) in advance. The detailed information will be released by the accountable persons.”
