The deceased has been identified as 26 year old Mr. Wai Yan Tun. He was shot in the neck at around 5 a.m. on July 21 at the MNDAA (Myanmar National Democratic Alliance Army) checkpoint at Tanyang intersection and died on the spot. It is said that another driver was also injured.
“We only heard about the shooting. We don’t know the details. It is said that cars were also confiscated,” shared a driver.
He added that there were cases of cars getting shot when entering the city starting July 18 as well as cases of cars getting confiscated, and that the situation on the road is precarious even though some cars managed to enter the city in the past couple days.
