RAKHINE STATE – Local residents reported that the junta forces shot and killed a Hindu youth for no reason in Sittwe.
A resident of Satyoekya Ward said that a group of young people were playing games together near the Kalsalyay Bridge in Sittwe around 8 p.m. on November 12 when junta forces arrived and shot them
“It happened around 8 p.m. yesterday (November 12). The kids were playing mobile games near the bridge. They ran away when junta forces arrived and were shot at. One of them died,” said the resident.
The deceased is said to be a Hindu young man from Satyoekya Ward No. 2.
The junta council has issued a curfew from 9 p.m. in Sittwe but this shooting happened around 8 p.m.
A resident of Sittwe shared that the residents are more anxious and terrified after the incident.
“We heard around 20 gunshots from Satyoekya Ward yesterday (November 12) then we found out that a person was killed this morning. It made the people more anxious. The current situation in Sittwe is one where you are unsure when you might die,” said the resident.
Currently in Sittwe, the junta council has been conducting inspections and arresting civilians. Although there has been no battle, the military tension has been rising.
