KAREN STATE – According to the Karen National Union (KNU) information resources, KNU and joint forces were able to capture the military council camp stationed in Kaw Nui Village next to the Asia Highway in Kawkareik on December 1 morning.
Kaw Nui Village is located to the east of Kawkareik. KNU and joint forces have been attacking the junta camps inside and outside the city since December 1 morning.
The military council was attacking back with heavy weapons and airstrikes, and it is reported that civilians have been injured and killed due to junta’s attack.
The attack happened after KNU’s last warning to governmental staffs to leave the city within a week on November 17. It is noted that Kawkareik is in the area where KNU Brigade 6 is operating.
