MYANMAR – Southern Regional Command reported on November 24 that eight people were killed and 28 injured in targeted attacks by the junta in the Southern Military Region, which includes Karen, Bago, Mon, and Tanintharyi areas, in the past week.
Although no details were stated, the junta troops fired more than 100 bombs targeting civilians in the Southern Military Region.
It was stated that the junta’s violent actions resulted in eight deaths and 28 injuries, and 51 people were abducted without a reason.
Among the dead, one civilian was killed by a landmine planted by the junta troops in Leik Paw Village of Phyu Township in Bago Division.
The terrorist junta army had launched artillery attacks in Ler Doh (Kyaukkyi) Township and Moo (Mone) Township in Nyaunglebin District under the administrative areas of Karen National Union (KNU), that included in Southern Military Region, resulting in casualties of civilians, including children and women, according to KNU’s report.
The Southern Regional Command reported that most of the detainees have not yet been released and are being forced into military service.
In addition, some of the detainees were forcibly confiscated their belongings and released after being extorted money.
In October, more than 220 people were forcibly detained by jthe unta army, including for military recruitment, in the Southern Military Region, according to the monthly military situation in the Southern Military region and the incidents of human rights violations against the people.
The terrorist junta army also launched artillery attacks and drone strikes on the areas where there was no fight and burned down the villages.
