RAKHINE STATE – The Arakan Army (AA) issued an emergency alert on July 27 morning, warning the villages along the flow of water from Thahtaychaung Dam in Thandwe Township to move to highlands and safety.
Due to the continuous rain affecting the central Myanmar as well as Rakhine State in the recent days, the water level in Thahtaychaung Dam is said to have passed the warning level.
It is said that the water level has passed the red alert as of July 27 morning and is expected to rise further and thus the emergency alert was issued, warning the civilians to swiftly move to safety.
A warning was previously issued that the water level could reach the warning level and the emergency alert was issued urgently as the water level passed the warning level on July 27.
AA also urged the people to cooperate with the volunteer rescue workers.
