RAKHINE STATE – 20 Bangladeshi fishermen who illegally entered Rakhine State were captured by the Arakan Army (AA) and transferred to the Bangladesh Border Guards, according to Bangladesh news.
AA Coast Guards reportedly captured the Bangladesh fishermen who were illegally fishing in the waters of Rakhine State on November 5 along with their fishing boats.
The fishermen were then transferred to the Bangladesh Border Guards on November 7. It is said that the fishermen accidentally crossed the border line while fishing and were detained by the AA Coast Guards.
The now released fishermen admitted that they were detained on November 5 while fishing in the Bay of Bengals.
The Bangladesh Border Guards have liaised with the AA to return those fishermen back to Bangladesh and reunite them with their families.
Previously on October 4, 16 Bangladesh citizens were robbed by pirates then tied up on their own motor boat but they were rescued by the AA Coast Guards on October 7 near Kyaukpadu Coast in Maungtaw Township and were returned to Bangladesh.
