Lee Sun-gyun, who was under investigation by police on suspicion of drug use, was found dead on the 27th.
Relatedly, reports indicated that the individual who contacted the police was Jeon Hye-jin, the wife of actor Lee Sun-gyun.
On the 27th, Yonhap News reported details of the 112 emergency call, citing a police official. According to the police, around 10:12 a.m. on the 27th, they received a 112 report stating, ‘The husband left the house after writing a note resembling a will. We were able to contact him until yesterday. The vehicle was also missing.’
Subsequently, the police dispatched personnel to investigate the report and located actor Lee Sun-gyun’s vehicle at Waryong Park in Jongno-gu around 10:30 a.m. Lee Sun-gyun was found unconscious at that time, and a substance believed to be connected to the incident was discovered in the passenger seat.
Lee Sun-gyun was reported to have been pronounced dead upon discovery and was not transported to the hospital for treatment.
Authorities suspect that Lee Sun-gyun made a drastic decision and plan to continue the investigation.
Previously, Lee Sun-gyun had been under police investigation after being booked last October for alleged marijuana and ketamine use at the home of Kim (29), the female manager of an entertainment establishment. During the investigation, Lee Sun-gyun claimed that ‘Mr. Kim provided the drugs, claiming they were for insomnia,’ and accused Mr. Kim and two others of extortion, alleging a theft of 350 million won.
On the 26th, Lee Sun-gyun expressed frustration that the primary evidence related to his alleged drug use was Mr. Kim’s statement, the entertainment establishment manager, and requested a polygraph examination.
Lee Sun-gyun, who debuted as an actor in 2001, experienced considerable success, notably for his role in the 2020 film ‘Parasite.'”
