MYANMAR – An official reported that the “Adopt a Commando” Campaign by the special commando battalion under People’s Defence Force (PDF) Military Region 2, Ministry of Defence, National Unity Government, was able to equip 25 PDF soldiers with life-saving bulletproof vests and helmets.
“Adopting means equipping the comrades with life-saving equipment. Just like blood relatives and siblings, we are the children of our parents. So we are getting adopted by the people,” said the official from the special commando battalion.
“Adopt a Commando” campaign will be running through August and the people have contributed enough to equip 25 PDF soldiers, 18 males and 7 females, by August 10, according to special commando battalion (P29914).
Adopting one commando will cost 20,000 THB per bulletproof vest and 5,500 THB per helmet, a total of 2.5 million in MMK and those who cannot afford the whole amount can also contribute only as much as they can.
The battalion says they will always remember the donors for saving their lives. It was learnt that a PDF soldier fell in Thamininnkone battle against the terrorist junta forces in Kyauktagar Township on August 9, 2023.
