NAY PYI TAW – An official of the Mountain Knights Civilian Defense Force (MKCDF) reported that 16 junta members including four air force officers were killed, three planes including two fighter jets were damaged, and some buildings were also damaged by the shock missiles attack towards junta council’s Ayelar military air base.
The attack was carried out at about 9 a.m. on July 16. Seven 107mm missiles were fired towards the Ayelar military air base, and 5 of them hit the targets. Four officers of junta’s air force and twelve others air forces were reportedly killed. An A-5 Bomber Jet Fighter and Y-12 military transport aircraft were completely destroyed, and the head of another fighter jet was damaged.
In addition, four buildings, one ammunition building, and the aircraft repair spare parts warehouse was destroyed by fire. Three other air force officers and seven other ranks are known to be missing.
The attack was carried out by the Mountain Knights Civilian Defense Force (MKCDF) and the Mercury Revolution Force (MRF) organized by the Brave Warriors for Myanmar (BWM). The revolutionary comrades reportedly withdrew without harm.
After being attack, the terrorist army raided 7 villages near Ayelar airbase and captured 12 civilians for no reason.
“The entrance to Nay Pyi Taw city was fully secured since July 12. Even with tight security, our comrades able to operate an adhoc attack to their airbase. Immediately after the firing, the military council forces blocked all the possible places. They raided and scrutinized 7 villages and captured people. Then they also opened fire into the sugarcane fields and sesame plantation around the villages with small arms and machine guns. 12 suspected civilians were abducted, ” said the official of Mountain Knights Civilian Defense An official of the Force (MKCDF).
Ayelar airbase is a high-level airport with very strict security, and it is said to be the airport that the coup army relies on when bombing people and revolutionary forces from all over the country, including the Karenni region and Karen State.
The mission is a part of the air force attack plan that BWM team and MKCDF team have been continuously implementing, and there has been five attacks including this attack. It was intended to prevent the military generals from fleeing abroad as it was the airbase that they relied on to escape.
