BAGO DIVISION – At least 20 people were abducted as the terrorist junta council is abducting and forcibly conscripting everyone including the members of its own political party, Union Solidarity and Development Party (USDP), in Oakpho Town and nearby villages, and the people are defending themselves and fleeing, reported Comrade Duyar, the information officer of Tharyarwaddy District Battalion 3802, People’s Defence Force (PDF).
The junta council forces started abducting the people in Oakpho and surrounding villages on August 22 and the residents have been fleeing and defending themselves with any available weapons such as slingshots.
The terrorist junta forces reportedly abducted five passengers at Oakpho Station, a resident of Leloosu Village, two labourers in Oakpho and one customer in Aryon Market on August 22; and a person mowing grass beside the road in Uto Village, a resident of Thitseintkone, three residents of Hlatsit Ward, two truck drivers, a resident of Uto Village, a fisherman from Kyunkone Village, a trawler jeep driver from Thitseintkone and a trishaw driver in Ayemyatharyar garments on August 23.
“In Zeekone and Oakpho, the junta forces forcibly conscripted ordinary civilians as well as junta supporters and USDP members, so everyone is fleeing. The son of a junta supporter and army veteran in Oakpho was abducted and the father was told that the son will be released if he took on guard duty so he did but they did not release the son and the father is furious. They are abducting every day so people have to flee. Now they won’t release those who pay them either. Only those who are of old age are released with bribes. It has become like a ruined town as the people are unable to go out to work. The people might starve to death later. Those living on daily wages are in trouble. In the villages, young people are defending themselves using weapons such as slingshots as they run away,” said Comrade Duyar.
