TANINTHARYI DIVISION – The battalions and teams under the Ministry of Defence (MOD) in Dawei District have formed a coalition to attack the junta forces in Dawei District with a combined strength, reported the strategic commander of the newly established Dawei District Coalition.
People’s Defence Force (PDF) Dawei District Battalion 1, Battalion 2 and Township People’s Defence Organisation (PDO) from Dawei Township, Thayetchaung Township, Launglon Township and Yebyu Township under the chain of command of the National Unity Government (NUG) MOD are said to have joined to form the Dawei District Coalition starting October 28.
The aim of the Dawei District Coalition is to connect all armed revolutionary forces in Dawei District, to go into battle under a single command, to fight back against the common enemy, the terrorist junta council, with combined strength, and to implement the common goals.
“Dawei District Coalition is formed from the armed revolutionary forces under the NUG. Local PDF teams are not included yet but there are plans for them to join later. There are junta dogs (junta forces) rampaging in our Dawei District, at the border of Yebyu and Launglon. Some of those areas are out of our reach so we weren’t able to take action. By not taking action, I mean our responses are delayed which will just result in our loss. In the upcoming month, we are planning to carry out something as Dawei District Coalition. We are trying to work under a single command by then. We, the Dawei District Coalition, will move under one command. As the armed forces have joined up, we hope that the people will also not distinguish between the teams and support the Dawei District Coalition as a whole. We believe that the people will also be in favour of that. So, we are still in the process of working to build the trust of the people. Although we have yet to carry out any mission on the ground, we hope that the people will be happy to see us by the time we carry out the missions,” said the strategic commander of Dawei District Coalition.
The strategic commander continued that he hopes for the Dawei District Coalition to coordinate and build mutual trust with the ethnic armed forces, local PDF teams, support teams, political forces, media networks and teams from respective sectors, and mutually work together and assist each other to unite for the eradication of military dictatorship and to achieve federal democracy.
