MYANMAR – The Chinese Foreign Ministry announced on August 13 that Foreign Minister Wang Yi will be visiting Myanmar.
Mr. Wang Yi will be attending the 9th Langcang-Mekong Foreign Ministers Summit in Chiangmai, Thailand after his visit to Myanmar and the total duration of his itinerary will be from August 14 to 17.
Mr. Deng Xijun, the Special Envoy for Asian Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, People’s Republic of China, has recently made a visit to Nay Pyi Taw on August 8 and met junta chief Min Aung Hlaing, after the revolutionary forces freshly captured the junta council’s Northeast Command.
In addition, the Chinese embassy also announced on August 12 that they have appointed a new ambassador to Myanmar as well as a new consul.
These visits by Chinese Foreign Minister, Special Envoy for Asian Affairs and the appointment of new ambassador and new consul coincide with the terrorist junta leader Min Aung Hlaing appointing himself the nominal president.
