KACHIN STATE – Fighting remains intense around the seven mile area between Bhamo and Momauk on November 18 and the junta council carried out airstrikes, reported a military source from the Kachin Independence Army (KIA).
Since the early morning on November 18, KIA forces clashed against the terrorist junta council troops and two junta jets bombed the seven mile area between Bhamo and Momauk. It is said that the battles began in the seven mile area in early October and have been ongoing for around two months.
“Fighting has been ongoing at the seven mile area between Bhamo and Momauk for around two months. There was fierce fighting between 4 a.m. and 4 p.m. yesterday (November 17). The junta council has increased offensives both on the ground and in air. Momauk and (light infantry) 437 are still under control of KIA,” said the KIA source.
KIA seized control of the entire Momauk Township after capturing the central police station and infantry battalions in Momauk Township on May 7 and 8, and light infantry 437 outside the town on August 19.
Since then, the junta council launched offensives from the air and on the ground to recapture Momauk Township.
