MANDALAY DIVISION – The National Unity Government (NUG) Minister of Education and Health Dr. Zaw Wai Soe said preparations are underway to capture and control Mandalay while avoiding as much damages as possible.
Dr. Zaw Wai Soe explained that as the second major city, Mandalay holds a special importance and there have been preparations to capture it and also for Pyin Oo Lwin.
“Regarding Mandalay, we have made preparations since before. After 1027 and while preparing for the second wave of 1027, we included preparations for Mandalay, May Myo and Pyin Oo Lwin. Because of those preparations, we achieved good results in 1027 second wave. Now, talking about it, Mandalay already has a good foundation. It starts with CDM. Mandalay is strong in CDM. Mandalay is special. For Myanmar, it is the second major city. So, there are consular offices and an international airport. It has the data and storage capacity to support the entire upper Myanmar when it comes to medical and education sectors. Similarly, there are also groundworks for communication services,” said the minister.
He continued that proper steps are being implemented with the coordination of the CDM staff, cooperation of the public and NUG Ministries for the capture of Mandalay.
“We have made and are making preparations to ensure as little damage as possible when capturing the city. There are coordinations between the public and CDM participation, cooperations with ethnic organisations and between respective ministries. In addition, NUG also has formed EOCC. It can be said that separate preparations are being implemented properly for Mandalay now,” explained Dr. Zaw Wai Soe.
Currently, revolutionary forces are attacking the junta forces in Madaya, Singu and Thabeikkyin Townships near Mandalay with the offensive of the revolutionary forces slowly approaching Mandalay.
