SAGAING DIVISION- Heavy rains in Kani Township caused the dam to break and water began to enter the villages. The Kani Township People’s Administration reported that they are working to evacuate the locals.
On September 25th, at around 10:00 p.m., the Mahu River overflowed (due to heavy rain) and the dam built by the village community was damaged. Water entered Parhe Village causing floods and landslides. It is reported that the villagers were temporarily evacuated and the dams had to be repaired urgently.
About five households had to be evacuated urgently due to rising water levels. Pets and cattle such as cows and pigs, some carts and tractors in town, as well as rice crops, beans, and Sesame plants, were destroyed or washed away during the flood. But there was no report of civilian causalities.
The village of Parhe has more than 190 households and if the rain continues, the village will be lost due to the erosions and landslides after floods.
