KACHIN STATE-Colonel Nawbu, in charge of information of the Kachin Independence Army (KIA), said that the military junta council’s Light Infantry Battalion (424) camp based in Kungmhuyan Village, Mansi Township, was attacked and captured on January 19.
“The junta’s Light Infantry Battalion (424) has been attacked and captured by the KIA. It is reported that we already took place after the camp was seized,” said Colonel Nawbu.
The camp was attacked and captured by KIA Brigade (3) at around 11:00 a.m. on January 19. There are reports that more than 20 members of the military junta council have been captured alive, but the KIA has not yet confirmed the details.
The junta’s Light Infantry Battalion (424) is located near Namkham town in Shan state. Colonel Naw Bu said that the joint forces led by the KIA and the military junta troops are also fighting in Hpakant.
Currently, KIA is attacking military council camps in Nampheka and Momeik townships in northern Shan State and Hpakant and Mansi Townships in Kachin State.
