SAGAING DIVISION – KLG PDF stated that grenades, dropped via UAVs, targeted the birthday party of Police Station Chief Tun Myint from Kani Police Station around 8 a.m. on Thursday (August 3), resulting in the death of the Police Station Chief and the Surveillance Officer.
Four 1kg grenades were dropped onto Kani Police Station during the party, killing Station Chief Tun Myint and Surveillance Officer San Htay, and injuring a total of four people, including the Police Major for the township and a policewoman.
“We carried out the attack after receiving information about the party. The Station Chief and Surveillance Officer were reportedly killed on the spot. We received the report on casualties from our moles,” said information officer AT of KLG PDF (Kyauk Lone Gyi People’s Defence Force), Yinmabin District Battalion 21, 22, and 23.
He continued that the Police Major for Kani Township, the policewoman, and two family members of the police, who were seriously wounded, were sent to the hospital by junta forces.
Around 100 junta forces were reportedly present at the police station during the party. Despite the heavy and small weapons fire from the junta forces inside the station and at the hill behind the station, members of the defense force were able to withdraw unharmed.
The attack and junta casualties cannot be independently confirmed.
Recently, on July 8, KLG PDF dropped seven 1kg grenades via UAVs on the Pyu Saw Htee outpost in Alalkyun Village of Kani Township, squarely hitting the houses of a junta officer and the Pyu Saw Htee leader, as well as the armory and their hidden sentries.
