MYANMAR – The junta council summoned the family of former world Lethwei champion Too Too (Nagar Mahn) to a police station on July 11 to inform them of his death and his father had to sign letter of acknowledgement, said a source close to the family.
The former Lethwei champion has reportedly died on April 26 but his family was only informed three months later. All information pertaining to him has been kept in the dark since his arbitrary arrest and it was not known where he was detained nor what he was charged for.
“The junta council has covered up all news of Too Too since they abducted him. Even when rumours came up of his death back in April, they made it seem like mere baseless rumours. His family was informed of his death while they were working to submit an appeal for his release. We are not clear why they tried that hard to keep news about Too Too in the dark,” said a source close to the family.
Too Too (Nagar Mahn) was abducted alongside six other youths at a restaurant near Minchaung Bridge in Saku Town, Minbu District on April 11, 2022 and sent to a junta interrogation center. Junta lobby channels claimed that five pistols, two hand grenades and several bullets were seized from them.
Too Too (Nagar Mahn) became the World Lethwei Champion in middleweight class after defeating Badarto of Australia in Myanmar Traditional Boxing (Lethwei) at the third World Lethwei Championship held at Thuwanna National Stadium on November 4, 2017.
