KARENNI STATE- The 24th Kayan National Day ceremony was held by the Karenni National Defense Force (KNDF) in the No.1 military strategy (Phekhon Zone).
The ceremony was successfully held despite the recent clashes in Phekhon and Moebye townships. On Kayan National Day (April 10), KNDF comrades saluted the Kayan flag, sang Kayan national songs, and saluted the late Kayan leader.
The KNDF No. 1 Military Strategy also announced that they regret not being able to celebrate the Kayan National Day together due to various circumstances, and wish to celebrate it magnificently with the entire Kayan community in the coming years.
“On Kayan National Day, may the Kayan ethnic brothers, wherever they are, be healthy and prosperous. May they be safe from all danger. May those participating in the revolution be safe,” wished the KNDF Military Strategy No. 1.
KNDF prayed for Myanmar’s speedy peace, the safety of the people fleeing the war, and the soldiers on the battleground.
The 24th Kayan National Day was also celebrated in Demoso Township and in Kayan Tharyar Village, in Nanswe, Mae Hong Son District bordering Thailand. The leaders of the Karenni Interim Administrative Council IEC, and Kayan National Unity Leadership Committee reportedly attended the ceremony.
After 1964, associations based on the name of the Kayan people began to emerge, and after the Kayan national leaders were able to approve the literature, culture, and the Kayan national flag, which are the main requirements for standing as an ethnicity, on April 10, 2000 (AD), the Kayan National Day was celebrated in memory of that day.
