KARENNI STATE- More than 2,000 trees and flowers were reportedly planted on Sunday, July 9 by the members of Clean Yangon and residents at the border of Demoso and Pekon Townships, according to Mr. Zeya Tun, an official of Clean Yangon.
The trees were planted along both sides of the roads the highway between Demoso and Pekon Townships, in cooperation with more than 100 local people.
“This region is war fleeing zone where more people are migrating and more wood cutting for firewood. Since I want the place to be green, we plan to grow new trees. The region may be in ash and fumes right now (due to war) but hope it will be covered in flowers in the future,” said Mr. Zeya Tun.
Around 2000 cherry trees, Grevillea (spider flower) trees, Royal poinciana trees, and Blue Jacaranda trees were reportedly planted.
The Clean Yangon group is a non-government and non-profit organization that assists displaced people in the Karenni state on behalf of local and international donors.
