SHAN STATE – According to the local residents, the military council arrested the monk of Kone Tha monastery in Baw Sai village on March 18th. Sources said that on March 19, the arrested monk U Thundara was forcefully changed to layman clothes and was sent for Kalaw interrogation by the Junta Council.
“The junta council army arrested the monk after accusing him that he was connected to the Dhanu People’s Liberation Front (DPLF). The army came to arrest him with more than 20 soldiers and also said that DPLF soldiers were also accepted at his monastery,” a local said.
It is reported that the monk U Thundara, who has been ordained for 8 years, was lecturing at a seminary near the school, and was appointed as a head monk due to the need for a position in the village.
On February 28th, four military vehicles and military council troops suddenly arrived at the Kontha monastery and arrested 17 youths who were there, accusing them of coming for training to the Dhanu People’s Liberation Front-DPLF.
It was reported in the military council lobby telegram channels that “In addition to arresting 17 youths , 4 guns from the monastery garage, 10 cartridges, 560 bullets, 2 remotes, 6 boosters and a hand grenade were also seized.”
The 17 youths who were arrested by the junta council have not yet been released, but they have been allowed to see their parents, and they are charging 100,000 kyats each time, according to the source.
