SAGAING DIVISION – The junta council troops that invaded and were stationed at Myohla Ward in western Kalay shot dead a mentally ill woman, reported the locals.
The junta troops invaded Myohla Ward and Monhta Village last Thursday night (August 10) and shot dead the Monhta resident on Friday morning.
“She is not right in the mind and so has no fear. The junta soldiers intentionally shot her dead,” said a resident. It is still unclear why junta troops opened fire on the woman.
The junta troops engaged in a clash against the local defence forces on Friday morning, but the clash was after the junta soldiers shot dead the mentally ill woman before the clash, explained a resident from western Kalay who had fled.
It is said that even though the residents tried to flee after the clash broke out, the junta troops blocked them, and a large number of civilians are trapped.
“There are many trapped both at Myohla and Monhta. Some fled from the west of the village early in the morning. Junta soldiers came and blocked the exit after finding out about it,” said a resident.
The clash between the junta and defence forces lasted for about half an hour, and the casualties on both sides are not known yet. The people who managed to flee said that junta forces burned down three houses to the west of Myohla and also abducted around 20 resident men.
