SAGAING DIVISION – Local news sources said that an explosion occurred on the forest road near Kyaunggu Monastery, Industrial Zone, Kalay City, on the evening of December 9th, killing a 30-year-old woman and injuring a 20-year-old man. It exploded when people were traveling on the forest road because the junta group destroyed and blocked the road.
“One person died because of a mine explosion at night. One person was injured. They went to the hospital for medical treatment. They didn’t make it in time. One person died on the road, and one person was hit by a mine and a lot of injuries,” said a resident.
It is said that those killed and injured in the explosion were pedestrians who were traveling from downtown areas of Kalay City to the south of Kalay.
Yesterday morning, before the explosion, the junta group destroyed and blocked the road connecting Kalay City with the south of Kalay district with a bulldozer and arrested more than 20 local passers-by.
Locals said that the military group destroyed the road, closed the road, and arrested the people. The residents said that they lost their lives due to the mine explosion while traveling on the forest road.
“To go to the south, the Kalay – Ganggaw road has been closed for a long time, and the next road is the road near Kalay City, near Secant village. No one uses that road. The dogs are still in Secant Village. They can’t go that way, so they go to the Forest Road, Industrial Zone Road. It was blocked by the JBC earth excavator. More than 20 people were arrested.”
It is said that after the revolutionary forces attacked and occupied the prison camps of Yangyiaung and Razagyo in Kalay, the Junta group tightened inspections at the entry points of Kalay City. At present, the residents say that they are blocking and destroying the roads to prevent Kalay from traveling to the south.
