SAGAING DIVISION – The junta army conducted tight inspections at Sagaing-Kachin border, the entrance of Katha Township, since the morning of February 14 and junta soldiers abducted six civilian men, the township People’s Administration Body (PAB) said.
A PAB officer explained that the terrorist troops captured the men who passed by the entrance gate at about 10 a.m. on February 14. Six civilian men were reportedly seized by junta troops.
“The most recent news on the ground is that men were being captured at the entrance of Katha Town at around 10 o’clock yesterday morning (February 14). Currently, six of them are said to have been seized,” he said.
On February 10, the military council issued a law requiring all citizens who have reached the age of 18 to serve in the military, saying that there is a need for a defense force.
After the mentioned law was announced, men were being targeted and abducted in Katha Township and the six abducted men are not identified yet, the official of Katha Township PAB said.
As soon as the news of civilians getting abducted by the junta forces was received, Katha Township People’s Defence Forces (PDF) gathered and attacked the entrance gate using drones.
“We (Katha PDF) launched the drone attack since the fascist army was capturing civilians. Junta thugs split up when we did that. I think their side faced injuries, but our side came back without harm,” PDF members said.
After such an attack, the military council troops patrolled Katha Town and troops reportedly entered the villages outside Katha Town on the morning of February 15.
Locals said that the entrance gate of Katha Town where the junta council troops are inspecting, is a checkpoint that was set up after the coup, and since it is on an important route, the gate was fortified with bunkers and the military council troops have stationed there.
