MAGWAY DIVISION – Junta police and troops stationed at Kyauk Khwat Crude Oil Field, Myaing Township, vacated their positions under junta control on Thursday (February 29).
The site, owned by MOGE, houses Well-2 Crude Oil Field. Junta soldiers had constructed bunkers there, which were frequently targeted by PDF comrades.
“A PDF comrade reported that the junta soldiers left their camp without facing any attacks from revolutionary forces,” said a resident. On February 22, the junta forces from the crude oil camp joined a column from Wat Pote Pyu Village Camp.
“The junta soldiers who vacated their camp, along with Pyu Saw Htees, moved into the junta camp in Industrial Zone – 2, splitting into two groups,” another resident said. That afternoon, PDF comrades conducted a clearance operation at the Kyauk Khwat Crude Oil Field Camp.
Prior to the coup, this location served as the base for the No.2 Crude Oil Field Security Force. After the coup, it became a stronghold for junta soldiers and police.
In 2023, junta police and soldiers from Thayet Kan Police Station in Pauk Township abandoned their camp and joined this location.
On January 24, 2024, revolutionary comrades launched consecutive attacks on this camp for two days. Prior to the attacks, comrades had repeatedly urged junta members to surrender.
Additionally, in March 2023, September, and October 2022, PDF comrades frequently targeted this camp.
