MYANMAR – The human rights department, the National Unity Government of Myanmar – NUG, stated on July 7 that they welcomed the verbal statement of Mr. Thomas Andrews and the latest reports presented in 53rd session of UN Human Rights Assembly.
During the statement, NUG said that Mr. Andrews described that support for Myanmar junta in terms of ammunition and financial aid must stop, the junta council should not be recognized as the legal government, and there must be an investigation into those involved in supporting the junta with ammunition and accessories.
In addition, Mr. Andrews will continue to serve as the special representative to implement special steps for the Myanmar Crisis.
According to Mr. Andrews’ statement, with the leadership of the European Union – EU, the US Government has been trying to block the cash flow to the junta’s MOGE (Myanma Oil and Gas Enterprise) and sanction the banks controlled by the junta council, as stated by NUG.
