SAGAING DIVISION – The junta soldiers reportedly killed five men, including a member of Local People’s Defense Force in Kawlin Township on May 23.
The victims were 22-year-old Kyay Inn Village PDF member Mr. Nay Hsan Aung, 44-year-old Mr. Thein Aye from Kyauk Kar Village, Mr. Min Hlaing and Mr. Kyaw Min Thein from Maung Kaw Village and Mr. Phone Wa, who had fled Kanbalu due to the battles, according to a member of PDF.
“The PDF member was abducted and killed by the junta soldiers in the battle which took place near Lwal Mauk Taung Village. Mr. Thein Aye was abducted in Thae Kaw Village and was killed in Lwal Mauk Taung Village and the two from Maung Kaw were murdered in their village while the refugee from Kanbalu was shot to death when he was cowboying at the gate of Outthitayar Village,’ he said.
It was said that all of the dead bodies were found on May 25 and buried on that day.
It was reported that a junta column with a force of 80 soldiers from Kawlin had raided Kyarinn Village on May 21, Thae Kaw Village on May 22 and Lwal Mauk Taung Village on May 23, causing a clash between the junta forces and the People’s Defense Forces.
The junta column continued to Lwal Mauk Taung Village after the clash and set fire to ten motorcycles of the PDF members. On May 24, they launched an offensive attack against Kyun Taw Village and after that retreated to Kawlin.
Similarly, 70-junta soldier column from Koe Daung Boh temporary camp penetrated Outthitayar Village on May 22, Yar Taung and Maung Kaw villages on May 23. It was reported that a battle also occurred between the junta column and the PDF.
