KAYIN STATE – On Tuesday (September 20) evening, alliances of Battalion 18 from the Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA) seized the junta’s outpost in Kyeik Village, the southern part of Kawkareik Township.
“We heard gunshots starting in the evening around 3 p.m. Only 20 minutes later, KNLA took over the outpost. They had been wiping the outpost out until dusk. Many junta soldiers seemed to be killed as well as some fled away. We couldn’t confirm it as no one dared to go there,” an unnamed (concealed for security) local said.
In the stated outpost, 30 junta soldiers had been stationed and many junta soldiers died, and some could escape during the conquering of the outpost according to the information from an acquaintance of KNLA.
The officials from the KNLA still could not be reached to inquire about the details of the conquest of the Kyeik outpost.
Due to this attack, some local villagers fled to a safe place because they were afraid of an air raid counterattack from the junta troops.
