KAKEN STATE – A local said that the section of the road connecting Kawkareik Township to the Asia Highway was dug out with bulldozers and destroyed by junta council troops on the morning of May 14.
The section of the road near Taung Kyar Inn Village, Kawkareik Township was destroyed by the lieutenant commander of junta infantry battalion 343, under the control of the Military Operations Command 19, said a local.
“This morning (May 14), a local from that village (Taung Kyar Inn Village) came and said that the road near their village was dug up and destroyed according to the orders of the lieutenant commander from junta infantry battalion 343 that is conducting offensives there because they are afraid that their enemy will come rom there. They are preparing to fight over there, and they are afraid,” he said.
On May 13, there were intense fightings near Myawaddy Township as the junta council and its subordinate BGF forces tried to launch an offensive from Lat Kat Ridge into the area secured by the People’s Defence Forces.
