KAYIN STATE – Locals stated that one civilian died and three got injuries due to the heavy artillery shell landed in front of the junta’s Light Infantry Battalion (LIB-97) based in Kawkareik Town, Kayin State on Wednesday (June 28) at around 5 a.m.
In the stated case, two women and two men were injured. Among them, 52-years-old Mr. Soe Myint died on the spot and one car and two motorcycles were destroyed.
“The shell landed on the pavement in front of the house. Two men and two women suffered injuries. Mr. Soe Myint (52) died on the spot. One woman was holed at the abdomen and sent to the Hpa-an Hospital. Another one man and one woman just got minor injuries. Two motorcycles were burnt, and one car was hit at the car front mirror,” one local (concealed name) said.
“Some said that heavy artillery shots were from Hlaing Wa and some firing with drone. But we didn’t see any drone flying yesterday. The junta council’s heavy artillery shell sometimes landed on the Town. As if something happened, the junta council’s artillery shell used to land in the town before. So, we couldn’t believe them,” one of the locals concluded that the explosion of artillery shells landing could be assumed by releasing from the junta’s Hlaing Wa Artillery Stronghold as well as by the revolutionary forces.
The stated explosion case could not be confirmed separately till the time of reporting.
Subsequently, since the local revolutionary forces have used to assault the junta council stationing in Kawkareik Town in every opportunities and the junta council also released the heavy artillery firing often, the heavy artillery shells often landed onto the town.
