TANINTHARYI DIVISION – Junta forces are going around Kawthoung City to recruit new members for its police force, according to local residents.
The recruitment drive was reportedly held from 9 a.m. till around 2 p.m. on September 25, led by the junta police chief for Kawthoung District.
Locals said that there were cars going around the town with banners, “We want you to join the police force” during the event.
“There were soundboxes mounted on the cars, blasting music as they went around the town. There were all types of banners. As for the number, there were probably around ten vehicles,” said a Kawthoung resident.
A source close to the junta police force explained that the recruitment drive was done for the 59th Myanmar Police Force Day.
