TANINTHAYI DIVISION – Residents told that two civilians from Kawthaung were arrested by the military council.
On July 1, around 10:00 p.m., a 27-year-old man from Ayemya Kantha Ward and a man from Pulon Tone Tone were arrested and taken away from their homes by the junta council.
A resident said, “The Junta Council’s soldiers, police, and head of wards came with two small cars and motorcycles.”
Both men were arrested in Kawthaung City. It is known that they were arrested at the interrogation center in 7 Mile, but we don’t know why they were arrested.
On the night of June 24, at least 27 civilians, including teenagers, were arrested by the junta council in Kawthaung. Those civilians have not been freed until today, according to family members and people close to those who were arrested.
Since the night of June 24, the military council has tightened security in Kawthaung, both by land and by sea. It is reported that more security forces have been deployed during night patrols and checking phones.
