A 50-strong junta council column from junta infantry battalion 288 based in Khamaukgyi Town was reportedly ambushed with two claymores when they came out to clear the area at around 6:00 p.m. on Friday (November 24).
“The battle did not last long, but we were outgunned by the junta council soldiers and had to return to our camps,” he said.
During the clash, which lasted about 15 minutes, three members of the junta force were killed and an officer believed to be the platoon commander was also seriously injured and was carried from Kawthaung to Myeik by air, according to the above-mentioned Kawthaung PDF official.
“It’s not sure where the plane went, Myeik or Yangon. There was no passenger in the passenger aircraft except for the (injured) officer,” a person close to the junta council said.
