TANINTHARYI DIVISION – Locals stated that the junta troop entered the house of Ms. Khin Mi Shein from Ayetharyar Ward, Ma Li Wan Village, Kawthoung Township, located at the Thailand-Myanmar Border and abducted her on Monday (August 21) at around 9 p.m.
“Kawthoung has been quite peaceful. We don’t know exactly why she has been abducted for what kind of reasons,” a local man said.
Currently, Ms. Khin Mi Shein is said to be detained at the military strategic force of the junta’s Coastal Command (stronghold) in Kawthoung Town.
Since the junta forces forcibly abducted two men and two women from Ayetharyar Ward, Ma Li Wan Village on August 11 and 12, a total of five civilians including Ms. Khin Mi Shein from Ma Li Wan Village were reportedly abducted during August. Among the four detainees from earlier abduction, only one woman was released.
Furthermore, the junta council committed injustice arrestment on over thirty civilians in Kawthoung Township in June and had not yet released them until now.
