TANINTHARYI DIVISION – The residents reported that a couple living in Thiri Mingalar Residential Ward, Kanpauk Region, Ye Phyu Township, was abducted by junta forces on June 19 at midnight.
The victims are Mr. Aung Zaw Oo, approximately 45 years old, and Ms. Ohnmar. Mr. Aung Zaw drives a vehicle that carries stones, and Ms. Ohnmar is the principal of a Primary School.
“We don’t know why they were abducted. She had opened her school before the coup,” said a resident. The exact location where they were abducted has not been confirmed yet.
For the past three days, around ten junta soldiers have been inspecting passersby near the junction of Thittaw Road, Kan Pauk Region. On Monday (June 19) evening, two junta small vehicles and four junta large vehicles were fully equipped and went to Kalain Aung. Along their way from No. 2 Bridge to Pyaung Pope Hill, the vehicles deployed troops.
At the end of May, a junta vehicle was detonated by landmines near Pyaung Pope Hill.
