KAREN STATE – The Karen National Union (KNU) announced that the over 60 junta soldiers including the strategic commander colonel who surrendered during the capture of Kyaikdon strategic camp are not tortured and detained according to the POW regulations.
Kyaikdon Strategic Camp headed by Colonel Aung Kyaw Soe, the leader of No. 3 Strategic Team under No. 13 Military Operations Command was captured by KNU Brigade 6 and allied forces during the second week of March.
During that battle, 11 junta forces were killed and four were injured while 66, including the colonel and 12 officers surrendered, according to KNU.
Meanwhile two revolutionary soldiers fell in battle and one was injured.
KNU said that the 66 junta forces that surrendered during the capture of Kyaikdon Strategic Camp including the strategic commander and 12 officers are not subjected to any form of torture and detained safely according to human rights standards.
